Meet Douglas Huls
Douglas Huls | Watercolor Artist & Landscape Photographer
I have always been drawn to places that invite us to slow down and look a little closer—a quiet coastal village, a winding Mediterranean street, the changing colors of the sea, or the gentle interplay of light and shadow.
Through watercolor and landscape photography, I seek to capture more than the appearance of a place. I want to preserve its atmosphere, its character, and the feeling of being there.
Based on California's Central Coast, I find inspiration both close to home and through my travels. My watercolors often celebrate colorful architecture, unexpected reflections, and the beautiful imperfections that give a place its personality. My photography explores those fleeting moments when light, landscape, and atmosphere come together.
The Foggy Nook was created as a home for these artistic journeys—a collection of original watercolors, fine art prints, and photography intended to bring a sense of place, beauty, and quiet discovery into everyday spaces.
My hope is that each piece offers something beyond the image itself: a memory, a moment of reflection, or perhaps the feeling of somewhere you've never been but somehow recognize.
Curated in calm. Crafted in mist.
