Sunlight spills across a quiet stone lane in Megalochori, where brilliant blue doors and balconies punctuate the whitewashed walls of this traditional Santorini village. Climbing flowers soften the architecture while the winding path disappears between the buildings, inviting the viewer to imagine what waits just beyond the next corner.
Blue Doors of Megalochori was painted to capture one of the qualities I find most compelling when traveling: the beauty of an ordinary place discovered away from the busiest streets. Rather than documenting every architectural detail, the watercolor allows light, color, and loosely defined edges to preserve the feeling of wandering through the village on a warm Mediterranean day.
The cool blues, sun-washed whites, and touches of warm stone create a peaceful composition that brings the quiet character of the Greek islands into the home.
A Quiet Thought
“Sometimes the most memorable part of a journey is the street you never planned to walk down.”
